Mitigating errors when migrating a site between Aegir platforms

A module inconsistency. We need the one on the left to be (6302) as well.

The Issue:

When migrating a site between platforms on Aegir you may be presented with errors between the platforms. This is caused when the platform you are migrating from has a newer version of a module than the module you would like to migrate too. To resolve this issue you can roll your module version back with update.php. Then when you migrate, it will be updated to the version you are expecting.

Click Select Versions to expose a list of available updates.

The Solution:

  1. To resolve this login to your drupal site as the administrator and go to http://yoursite.com/update.php. Click continue on the page you arrive at and then click select versions which will expose a list of all your modules and updates that you can apply. Navigate to the module you are hoping to roll back and select the version that matches what you need to make Aegir happy.
  2. Then simply apply the changes and let update.php do what it does.
  3. Once you return to your administrative pages go back to Aegir and verify your site. Once it has completed verification, try to migrate again. You should be able to do so successfully this time around. Good luck.

  1. Very accurately awesome. There were really factors or reactions that were filtering some errors due to the change of platforms. It is not easily achieved but I do believe that we can reach our mission.

  2. Migrating a site between platforms on Aegir can be really complicated. Just so complicated. You need to have your patience and you must give a lot of effort. It can take a long time too.
